Dong Guo, Ancient Arbor Sheng Puerh, Spring 2017
Dong Guo grows in a rocky environment with difficult conditions, and its exposure to the elements shows in its powerful character. The taste and smell are quite strong for Lincang Puerh, and it has a powerful yet smooth Qi. This tea is exceptional for aging, and it is also amazing to drink now. The Dong Guo teamaker is a very confident man with strong Qi. He is very proud of his tea, and we believe this is reflected in the tea which has a strong, bold character.
9-5-2018 Update: The tea has developed a nice tobacco taste after it came out of hiding. When Raw Puerh is naturally produced and processed, the tea cakes are quite alive. This tea went dormant for a month or two, where the taste was almost gone completely. We say that at this time the tea is "transferring". Upon waking the taste is much stronger than before. Dong Guo is a very interesting tea and watching it age is a great experience.
The tea trees live at 1900-2,200 meters in Xi Ban Shan, MengKu, Lincang, Yunnan, China. The trees are ~250-300 years old.
6 grams of tea brews 15-20 rounds, and one can use as little as 1-2 grams of leaves for 6+ pots of tea.
